This fully remote position, part of the 18-person creative content team, leads the concept copywriting team in developing creative campaign concepts. Specific job duties include:
Leading team of talented and creative marketing copywriters who write all new copy for product/program launches and campaigns
Ensuring team delivers the distinct voice and adheres to specific requirements of various clients, including the Coldwell Banker brand, Coldwell Banker Realty brokerage, Realogy, other Realogy brands and primary services (mortgage, title, insurance, etc.), and for programs such as RealVitalize (https://realvitalize.com/) , RealSure (https://www.realsure.com/) , Clients for Life (https://www.ana.net/miccontent/show/id/b2-2020-10495) , Listing Concierge , Design Concierge (https://www.cbdesignconcierge.com/) and more
Ensuring copy is written in proper voice that speaks to variety of audiences including buyers, sellers, luxury consumers, agents, potential recruits, employees and executives
Spearheading A/B testing of copy elements such as subject lines, call-to-actions and messaging to determine which is most effective in recruiting/retention and using findings to guide future projects and drive results
Directing the work of 2+ full-time copywriters; responsible for interviewing, selecting, training and disciplining employees; makes recommendations on the promoting or firing of employees; sets measurable goals, reviews, monitors team’s productivity, leads regular one-on-ones and team meetings, and handles employee grievances or complaints
Interviewing, selecting and managing freelancers as needed, and monitoring freelance budget
Consistently exercising discretion and independent judgment for significant campaigns, products and launches that are critical to the company’s success
Ultimately responsible for ensuring copy is inventive/creative, accurate, succinct, consistent, audience appropriate, effectively communicates key messages, and will be impactful in adoption, retention and recruiting
Closely monitoring team’s work for legal and regulatory compliance and ensures it follows our internal style guide
Planning team’s work by assigning to direct reports based on available time and talents using Workfront, attending advanced strategy/launch meetings to determine project requirements, determining materials needed to ensure copywriters can begin the job, providing strategic direction and requesting more info/clarification as needed
Reviewing, marking up and approving all copy written by their direct reports – ensuring proper grammar, style and accuracy – including social media posts/ads, print ads, recruiting materials, video scripts, presentations, web copy, emails, brochures, postcards, posters, speeches, event materials, blog posts and editorial content
Working closely with direct reports to ensure they are providing the highest level of creativity, speed and accuracy to create effective campaigns, complete jobs and meet deadlines, providing meaningful feedback so copywriters learn from mistakes and changes made to their copy.
Collaborating with other marketing professionals across the country to execute successful projects – brainstorming, discussing creative direction, determining copy strategy and messaging, offering feedback, etc.
The ideal candidate will be:
A Leader – Able to effectively hire and train talented copywriters to get the best work out of the team, providing feedback in a collaborative and positive way, and holding effective meetings.
Detail-Oriented – Must be a meticulous proofreader with impeccable attention to detail, who can easily spot typos, inaccurate info, and grammar and legal/regulatory compliance issues; consistently follows AP Stylebook and internal style guide; works with team to produce error-free copy the first time to avoid multiple routes.
Multi-Tasker – Must have solid time management skills with a strong sense of urgency, be able to juggle multiple ongoing projects while moving them all forward and meeting daily deadlines; able to manage own workload and workload of team to ensure deadlines are met.
Creative – Must be an exceptional creative writer experienced producing copy for variety of audiences, in varying voices and for range of media including social media, video, presentations and TV/print/social ads; able to maintain high standards and push team to improve work so we deliver the best product.
Collaborative – Must be comfortable with collaborative process, able to accept critiques and changes to work without getting offended or irritated; able to work well with others to execute successful projects including brainstorming, discussing creative direction, offering feedback, etc.
Takes Ownership – Able to represent team in meetings, identify solutions, find efficiencies and speak up when team runs into challenges.
Strong Communicator – Must be able to deal with difficult clients and successfully convey thoughts and provide answers by video chat, phone and email.
Messaging Expert – Must learn and be able to use existing messaging and craft compelling new messaging for products and programs.
On-Trend -- Stays on top of trends in copywriting, advertising, video and social media and works with team to generate new creative ideas for content and new approaches to copy.
A Bachelors Degree in communications, creative writing marketing or English (or other related degree) or equivalent work experience
7+ years of experience writing non-technical marketing copy
Experience managing and developing team of copywriters is strongly preferred
Strong experience working in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
Agency experience is preferred and real estate experience is a plusThis position can be performed anywhere except Colorado.
